Lawyer Morara Kebaso Arrested Again Amidst Growing Tensions

Lawyer and activist Morara Kebaso has reportedly been arrested again barely aweek after his previous arrest, sparking concern among his supporters and human rights advocates. The arrest was confirmed by Morara himself in a post on X , where he shared details of his arrest.

According to his lawyer, Pareno Solonka, Morara was arrested around 11 a.m. and forcibly taken away in a Subaru vehicle typically associated with officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Solonka expressed alarm in a series of tweets, saying, “Morara has just been bundled into this Subaru by DCI officials. We don’t know where he’s being taken or the reasons behind the arrest.” It was later confirmed that he had been transported to Lang’ata Police Station.

The arrest is reportedly linked to an incident that occurred at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday, where chaos erupted during a public forum. Morara, who was present for the public participation session regarding a motion to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, claimed to have been violently attacked during the event. “I have been arrested over what happened at Bomas. Can you imagine?” he wrote on X.

During the forum, Morara was met with hostility from a group of unidentified individuals, who allegedly threw chairs at him, leaving him with injuries to his head, neck, and legs.

His previous arrest saw the police seize his electronic devices, raising concerns about his safety and the true motivations behind the detentions.
