Edgar Obare Arrested by DCI detectives

Blogger Edgar Obare has been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a message to his Instagram followers on July 30, the blogger said he was arrested in the morning while at his home.  “As I said earlier I was summoned by the DCI. Today morning I was arrested by very many officers at my home. Now am headed to Nairobi. Thank you for your undying support.”

Edgar was summoned earlier in the week or an expose’ he did on lifestyle blogger Natalie Tewa. On his Instagram, Obare had alleged that Tewa was in a relationship with Governor Joho and that she had recently accompanied the governor and Suna East MP, Junet Mohamed on a trip to Dubai. The posts also included Tewa’s alleged visa information, which contained details such as his government name and date of travel.

On August 1, fellow blogger Xtian Dela posted on social media that Edgar had been unable to secure bail and would, therefore, spend two more nights in Gigiri Police station.

“We have been unable to secure bail for Edgar Obare because of “someone big”. He will spend two more nights at Gigiri Police station and appear in court on Monday. “Someone Big” has to teach him a lesson. This country!!! #FreeEdgarObare,” read Dela’s post.

Edgar has earlier called for support from the online community under the hashtag #freeedgarobare claiming that he was not safe.
