CS Matiang’i threatens to sue Robert Alai and writer Francis Muli for Libel

Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government Hon, Dr Fred Matiangi has threated to sue Robert Alai and writer Francis Muli, for libel in an article written on KahawaTungu.

CS Matiang’i, through his lawyer, Mr Donald Kipkorir, claims that the article dated March 13, 2020, with the headline “Concrete Blasting Company Associated with CS Fred Matiang’i Accused of Raining Havoc in Kisii” was falsely and maliciously written, printed and published, and intended to disparage Dr Matiangi, his public office and his life.

He further said that the article insinuated that CS Matiang’i is the owner of an illegal quarry in Kisii, that he violates established quarry regulations, that he has caused the death and injury of the residents in Bobasi, Kisii County, that he is abusing his power for his personal enrichment at the expense of the public and that he is of dissolute and proliferate character.

“The said publications were but out of malevolence and spite towards the minister and were also calculated to increase the popularity of the said blog and Twitter page with a view to making a profit as a media influencer and attract advertising,” Said Mr Kipkorir.

CS Matiang’i has demanded the removal of the article from Alai’s publication and expungement of them online, failure to which he will file a suit to compel their removal and pursue damages and costs for libel.
