Cyprian Nyakundi arrested in an alleged Ksh. 17.5 million extortion plot

Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi and Emmanuel Nyamwea were today arrested for allegedly trying to extort Ksh 17.5 million from Victoria Commercial Bank Ltd.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Twitter account, Cyprian and his counterpart were arrested after “successful investigations touching on extortion, blackmail and false accusations.”

The DCI also said that the two had just received Ksh. 1 Million from one of their victims being a down payment of Ksh 17.5 million they had earlier demanded. This was to be as a precondition for pulling down libellous posts appearing on a website allegedly owned by the suspects.

Cyprian and Emannuel are set to be arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Cyprian Nyakundi has been at loggerheads with the law in the past with arrest such as defamation and contempt of court over his online posts.
