Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi is being held over blog posts published on his blog where he serialized the alleged corruption in which the government paid sh1.5 billion for land acquisition that actually belongs to government.
He was arrested on May 14th at Milimani Law Courts where he had gone for the mention of a defamation case against him by Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Okeng’o Matiang’i which didn’t take place. Detectives had followed him to the court room.
He is being accused of spreading malicious rumors. Complainants of the case are Dr. Matiangi, former Attorney General Prof. Githu Muigai and National Land Commission Chairman Dr. Mohammed Swazuri. They were all mentioned in the five posts he published on his blog as beneficiaries of kickbacks in hundreds of millions.

He was taken to Kiambu Court where the police asked for five days to hold him to conduct investigations but the court granted them three days. The court denied him cash bail.
In the latest twist concerning the land, Lands Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney said that the government did not follow due process to acquire the piece of land. She added that there was no documentation of any government institution acquiring the land despite the recent Sh1.5 billion paid to the landowners, thereby conflicting information provided by government officials. The revelations were made in an ongoing investigation process by the Senate’s Public Accounts and Investment Committee.
Senators who are inquiring into the compulsory acquisition of 13.534 hectares of land on which Ruaraka High School and Drive-Inn Primary school stand at a total cost of Sh3.2 billion.
The ministry, through the NLC in January paid out Sh1.5 billion to Whispering Farms Limited, a company associated with businessman Francis Mburu.
The government, through the NLC compulsorily acquired 13.5 acres to secure the interest of Ruaraka High School and Drive Inn Primary School, which were built 34 and 32 years ago on private land.
