The Kenya Police Service has threatened to arrest anyone spreading untrue and malicious Social Media posts. In a statement signed by George Kinoti, the police spokesman said the malicious post on allegations of rigging the next General Elections by a media personality are alarming and investigations are underway to determine the veracity of the allegations.
“The are grave assertions that lack any shred of evidence and have the potential of creating unnecessary panic besides causing needless provocation and incitement,” read the statement in part.
He added that investigations will help determine whether any law was breached. If this was done, then the media personality will be arraigned in court and charged accordingly.
Kinoti further cautioned the public especially political aspirants against making inflammatory statements that could incite people into believing they are true.
It is unclear under which law the arrests will be made.
